Dreams
For God speaks in one way, or two, but they do not pay attention to. In one dream, one night in sight, when deep sleep falls on men, in slumber on the couch then he opens the ears of men ... Job 33:14,15
Then he said, Hear now my words. If among you a prophet, then I make the Lord, me in a face familiar to him in a dream I speak with him. Numbers 12:6
The Scripture gives many examples where God used dreams to speak to both his people, prophets and also to those who knew him not. It is His desire to communicate with us so that we understand His purpose in our lives.
Some examples from the Old and New Testament:
Gen.20: 3 But God came at night in a dream to Abimelech and said unto him, Behold, thou art a child of death, because you have taken that woman because she is married.
Gen.31: 11 And the angel of God said to me in the dream Jacob. And I said: Here I am...
Gen.31: 24 And God came in a dream by night to the Syrian and Laban said to him: Take you heed that ye Jacob neither good or bad.
Gen.37: 5 And Joseph had a dream and told it to his brothers.
Gen.40: 5 now They both had a dream, each his own dream, same night, each dream with its own meaning, both the giver and the baker of the king of Egypt, who were imprisoned in the jail.
Judges 7:15 When Gideon the story of the dream and its interpretation had heard, he bowed down in worship ...
1 Kon.3: 5 To Gibeon the LORD appeared to Solomon by night in a dream, and God said: Question: what will I give you?
Dan.1:17 And God gave these four lads knowledge and understanding of all writings and wisdom, while Daniel had understanding in all visions and dreams.
Mat.1: 20 ... see an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream and said: Joseph, son of David, do not hesitate Mary your wife, until you take, because what is conceived in her is from the Holy Spirit.
Mat.2: 12 And by God warned in a dream not to return to Herod, they went along a different route back to their country.
Mat.27: 19 While he is on the right seat, his wife sent him the message: you do not interfere with that just because I have a dream today in many suffered for Him.
And it shall come in the last days, God says, I will pour my Spirit upon all flesh: and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams.
Today his dream is still one of the means whereby God wants us to speak, for he longs for an intimate relationship with you and us. Some dreams can be very clear and easy to interpret, others are often difficult to understand. For the interpretation of any dream is important to listen to the Holy Spirit. Dreams are often not as literally to interpret it symbolically. The Bible is therefore our first source for learning to understand symbols and dreams.
But dreams can come from 3 sources:
1. From God
2. Of our own soul, imagination - see Isaiah 29:8: And it will be like when a hungry dreams that he eats, but when he awakes, he is still unsaturated, such as when a thirsty and dreams that he drinks, but when he awakes, he is exhausted and thirsty ...
3. From demonic people with the aim to pursue other gods or ungodly principles into the mind of the dreamer or deceit on Biblical truths.
Any interpretation should be viewed with the Word of God. Any revelation that does not comply with the written Word of God must be rejected.
The messages that God brings dreams are so unique and wonderful! He gives us this insight into a certain situation, give instructions, encouraged us to trust Him, gives us promises, often gives direction to our prayers, reveals things about the future and our destiny, brings us to repent and much more.
Reception and interpretation of dreams is not sufficient just to our ears but also open our hearts to open. If we open our hearts to His voice, we will not only hear His will but we will also have the desire to do His will really ... because Jesus is our goal!
